Homeschool Rule of Three

I've discovered the Homeschool Rule of Three.  It goes like this -

  1. I can do 1 thing well in a day.
  2. I can do a 2nd thing mediocre, or just so-so, in a day.
  3. I can do a 3rd thing very shoddily, in a day.
The Homeschool Rule of Three might look like this -

I can take a really great field trip.  We can have a mediocre dinner.  We can do a really shoddy job of completing our book lessons (just math.  all other subjects were dropped).

Or

We can clean the house well.  We can have a mediocre day of school (some subjects get dropped, but its overall, rather so-so).  We can have a really shoddy dinner (cereal, anyone?)

Or

We can have a great day of school (every subject gets done and real learning happened).  We can have a mediocre clean up (maybe we tidied the kitchen). We can have a really shoddy trip to the library (run in, run out).  Dinner didn't happen, and Mom went to bed at 9pm.

If something gets done exceptionally well, then the new rule of three is -

1 thing done exceptionally well.
2 things done very shoddily, if at all.

The Homeschool Rule of Three should help you plan your day:)
