Week 5 has ended, and we are taking a 1-week break. Normally, we'd break after Week 6, but next week includes Labor Day and the start-up for several school year activities. I thought we could use the week break.
A1 finished through Day 16 in Sequential Spelling. She memorized the East Coast states and Southern States - now she is working on the Mid-West. She has her 30+ prepositions somewhat memorized, using some mnemonic devices. She did 4 days of Daily Paragraph Editing. She read through the chapter on Benjamin Franklin for History, and wrote a 3 sentence summary. She read the first 4 pages of George Washington. In Math, she has been working on 2 digit numbers dividing into 4 digit numbers. She's using Partial Product Division, which we both seem to prefer. Unfortunately, she's getting them right half the time. It isn't the method so much, it's that some sort of error enters in. It's a different error each time. Not sure how to get better accuracy...
Z finished through Day 13 of Sequential Spelling. She memorized her East Coast states and Southern States - she'll start the Mid-West states next week. She memorized all the preps that begin with "a". She did 4 days of Daily Paragraph Editing. She had already read the chapter of Benjamin Franklin, and she read the first 4 pages of George Washington. In Math, she's working on 1 digit times 4 digit numbers (no carrying). Algebraic problems are adding in more steps and working on order of operations, such as
n + 4 = 6 + (9 + 1).
n + 4 = 6 + 10
n + 4 = 16
n = 12
