toddler school

This week, she recognized colors, such as black, white, blue, pink or red or purple (those 3 are getting lumped together for now), yellow, orange, green.  More often than not, she's naming colors correctly. The mistakes that she is making are small, like lumping yellow with orange, yellow with green, green with blue, or purple-red-pink.

She loves nursery rhymes.  She sings dumpy dumpy dumpy pop! (humpty dumpty), and loves to sit up high on places, just like dumpy dumpy. She loves rock-a-baby (rockabye baby) and wants different family and friends in the treetop.  The funniest rendition was when she asked for "rock-a-baby that thing".  And so the song went:

Rock a bye that thing, in the tree top
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock
When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall,
And down will come that thing, cradle and all:)

She was quite satisfied with this version of the song, although I couldn't stop laughing my first time singing it!

She recognizes letters on books as "ABCs".  And then proceeds to count in her own little weird way, lol ("one, two, one, two, ONE!")  She insists on reading books all by herself, which means we can't read a full book to her right now.  "I do it" or "ohhhh, I'll read it!" she says.

Her comfort zone has moved beyond immediate family.  She has a whole list of friends and family she knows by name and looks forward to seeing.  She loooves "Gampa" (Grandpa).  She asks about Gampa daily.
