This week, A1's math introduced tens divided into 2, 3, and 4 digit numbers. Then, it jumped into long division of 2 digit numbers into 3 and 4 digit numbers. Fun.
Today A1 asked for an easier way to do long division, so I taught her Partial Product Division. She caught on to it after only showing her one problem, and she adapted it to meet her needs. She was surprisingly accurate with this method. I won't say she was faster...lol. She may have been faster, as well. I'm glad this method seemed to work for her today.
We finished up our Science for this week: read about cells, and wrote the definition for cell and mitosis. We got through Day 10 in Sequential Spelling, with -up, -ood, -ould as the spelling pattern. The kids have been memorizing prepositions (for some reason, these are really difficult to commit to memory). They are also working on memorizing the southern states. We continue with Italics writing, although Z is having mental breakdowns every day because there is not enough space to write the sentences within the lines (I think this is true of most, if not all, handwriting programs - ergh!) More Daily Paragraph Editing - this week's theme is Lewis and Clark, with an eye on capitalizing proper names.
Today was our homeschool group's last Beach Day. We were there from 12:30 - 3:30pm. The kids participated in a sand "castle" Bible themed contest. Everyone won a glow stick as a prize. The kids really enjoyed Beach Day, and especially loved the sand castle contest.
